As we enter the fall season, I am being asked frequently if now is good time to sell a home. I reviewed the number of requested showings again this morning to try and better answer that question.

Showings do slow down as summer comes to a close and this year appears to be more of the same. Showings stayed flat in 2009 likely as a result of the home buyer tax credit. But, we are ahead of the trend set in prior years.
I expect we may see prospective buyers continue to shop due to low rates and the large number of homes available, even as the season changes. It’s a competitive market for home sellers, but I don’t think there will be an advantage to sitting on the sideline until spring. Home sellers traditionally flock to the market in the spring hoping to cash in but unless we see a huge jump in home buyer traffic along with the season, it will just mean more competition for sellers.
