Raleigh’s North Hills development is a trendy spot for the city’s Midtown, and development continues to boom with the goal of a multi-generational community that caters to young professionals and retirees. In the last 11 years, Kane Realty Corp. and its partners have invested over $750 million in the redevelopment of North Hills.
North Hills unveiled its latest addition, Midtown Park and amphitheater, on Saturday with live music, fashion shows, and food tastings. It will continue its opening celebration by hosting a monthly series of Sunday bluegrass concerts this summer. The 1-acre park and amphitheater can accommodate more than 10,000 people.
Privately owned parks are unusual, but developer John Kane said the amenity is what North Hills needs as it adds office workers, residents, and retail destinations. “The urban density is great, but you’ve got to have gathering places,” said Kane. “We’ll have lots of options to do new things.”
North Hills also broke ground on The Cardinal retirement community this week. The facility will be a continuing-care community (CCRC), offering a range of medical services that allow residents to stay in one place as their needs change. The Cardinal will include 165 independent-living units and 60 units for assisted living, nursing care, and memory care. “It’ll add another dimension to North Hills, another offering we don’t have for seniors to come and live in a mixed-use environment,” said Kane.
North Hill developers say a new apartment complex called Midtown Green is set to open in the coming months. Additionally, construction is scheduled to begin this summer on a new 18-story office tower.
North Hills is only one of the many highlights for North Raleigh residents; they also love where they live for the convenient access to the Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) airport, Research Triangle Park (RTP), downtown, shopping, greenways, and hospitals.
