New Stadium Tower
A five-story, 90,000-square-foot tower to replace the Finch-Yeager Building on the west side of the stadium is planned for construction. The main level will include six concession booths and restrooms, while the more luxurious second floor contains a 300+ seating dining room, exterior club accommodations, and 6 luxury suites. Fifteen additional luxury suites, as well as the President’s box, will be on the third floor, while the fourth level provides media space with extra video filming on the roof.
A new video board and speaker arrangement is planned for the south end zone. Duke is partnering with Daktronics for a new LED board measuring 42 feet high by 75.6 feet wide for a total of 3,175 square-feet of display with a 1080P high definition resolution – more than doubling the current video board size.
Other improvements for the stadium include guest services and first aid stations, integrated ADA and companion seating balconies, a new stair/elevator tower, new black aggregate paving, and enriched interior and exterior lighting,. The restroom count also will increase from 184 to 495. Additionally, the field level will be lowered and a new natural sod surface will be installed after the other projects have been completed.
The Duke Board of Trustees authorized the renovations in September and new blue seats have already been installed for a quick facelift this season. Following the last home game on Nov. 29, the real improvements will begin. Renovation is expected to finish before the 2015 season kicks off.
